About the website

CIRIA and its members have a strong commitment to the assessment and management of contaminated land. CIRIA has produced a series of guidance documents on this subject for the construction industry. This website has been developed by CIRIA to be an authoritative source of guidance for contaminated land in the UK.

The main part of the site hosts a database of published guidance and literature on contaminated land issues. The focus is on good practice guidance published in the UK, but also includes selected overseas publications that are widely used in the UK.

Each record displays key details of the publication, a summary prepared by CIRIA and information on how to obtain a copy. The CIRIA summary for each record has been drafted to assist the user to determine whether or not the document is likely to be helpful and worthwhile obtaining in full. This text summarises the purpose of the document, and a description of the document’s content section by section. The database can be searched by publication category, keyword and through a text search of the full record.

In addition to the publications database, other aspects of the website are:

The web-site also contains a facility to submit details of new publications for addition to the database by CIRIA.
