“Land affected by Contamination – Technical Guidance for Applicants and Developers, Second Edition”
The Essex Contaminated Land Consortium, which consists of representatives from all Essex local authorities, has recently produced and adopted a new edition of this useful, clear and informative guide to developers and applicants, advising them how to deal with land contamination. As with the first edition (green in colour), the new publication addresses the key issues relating to how to deal with land contamination and ensures a consistent approach across the county. Whilst it retains the information of the original, this edition has been updated to include references to relevant new guidance and policy, in particular, DEFRA and the Environment Agency’s “Model Procedures for the Management of Contaminated Land” (CLR11) and Planning Policy Statement 23.
For ease of identification, the new guide has been produced in red. It is available on request, as a hard copy or in electronic format, from all Essex Local Authority Contaminated Land Officers. In addition, it can be found on their websites.
