Software packages most widely used in the UK for the assessment of contaminated land are summarised below with links to more information. Details of additional or new software packages can be sent to CIRIA by clicking here.
ConSim (Version 2.0)
Probabilistic
model developed by Golder Associates on behalf of the Environment Agency to assess risks to groundwater from contaminated
sites.
Contaminated
Land Exposure Assessment Model – CLEA 2002 (Version 1.3.0.1)
Probabilistic model developed by Defra/ Environment Agency to assess chronic risks to human
health and to calculate Soil Guideline Values. Issued as an accompaniment to
publication CLR10.
Environment Agency Remedial Targets for Soil
and Groundwater to Protect Water Resources
Spreadsheets to accompany Environment Agency
R&D 20 publication ‘Methodology for the Derivation of Remedial Targets
for Soil and Groundwater to Protect Water Resources’.
GGP Systems Contaminated Land Data Management Tool (GGP-CLDM)
Software by GGP Systems for managing EPA compliance Risk Assessment providing a database with facilities for geographic analysis and mapping of sources, pathways and receptors.
LandSim (Version 2.5)
A risk assessment
model developed by the Environment Agency to assess the leakage of leachate from landfill
sites and the consequent impact on groundwater.
Risk Integrated Software for Clean-ups -
RISC (Version 4.0)
Software package developed by BP to provide a standardised
approach to soil and groundwater risk assessment through fate and transport
modeling.
RISC-Human 3.1 (Version 3.1)
Risk
assessment model used to estimate human exposure to contaminants within soil,
groundwater and sediment and developed in the Netherlands.
Risk-Based Corrective
Action – RBCA
Tool Kit for Chemical Releases (Version 1.3)
A modeling and risk characterisation package for Tier 1 and 2 RBCA evaluations
for chemical release sites. It combines contaminant transport models and
risk assessment tools to calculate baseline risk levels and derive risk-based
cleanup standards for a full array of soil, groundwater, surface water, and
air exposure pathways.
SNIFFER Framework for Deriving Numeric
Targets to Minimise the Adverse Human Health Effects of Long-term Exposure
to Contaminants in Soils
Spreadsheets for inorganic and organic contaminants
to accompany the SNIFFER publication ‘Method for Deriving Site-Specific
Human Health Assessment Criteria for Contaminants In Soils’.
